A beautiful spot with a sandy beach with sand dunes.   Popular with Kitesurfers, Windsurfers and Wing Foilers.

Getting There

Gullane beach is located approximately 30 miles east of Edinburgh. The drive from Edinburgh city center to Gullane beach takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on traffic conditions. From Edinburgh, take the A1 towards Berwick-Upon-Tweed and then take the A198 towards North Berwick. Gullane beach is well signposted and easy to find.

Overview

Gullane Beach works best in a Westerly.  It’s the closest spot to Edinburgh that will work in a westerly wind direction.  Onshore winds bring bigger swell.

Gullane Beach is a crescent shaped bay with dunes and a generally sandy bottom with occasional rocks.
