Bracklesham has been a popular kitesurfing and windsurfing spot for many years, if you’re on the south coast and into winging in waves (without a membership) then this spot is ideal for you.
Turn off the A27 at Chichester and drive south, make sure to get there early on summer weekends to avoid traffic and secure a parking space.
Bracklesham Bay has a large pay and display car park, outside of peak summer days you’ll usually find a space.
South Coast Waves ! The waves are best at low to mid tide, when its too full of water at high tide the waves don’t work so well.
The spot is shines in W to WNW wind direction, the swell and waves here are significantly larger than spots east of Selsey. When there’s a big swell running out in the channel, the larger waves will wrap in around the Isle of Wight and head towards the bay. This wave selection improves the wave period, filtering out the smaller slower waves. Best waves Dec-Feb.
Watch out for submerged wooden groynes near high tide, especially when conditions are onshore.
Facilities are good, loos and a cafe on the beach. Water sports shop, selling winging gear located within 100m of beach.
