A popular flatwater spot for wingfoiling and windsurfing, next to Shoreham Airport. Only suitable 1hr either side of high tide. The best wind direction is SWW, where you can sail the 500m reach between the rail bridge and foot bridge (Tollbridge).
Most people rig up on the East bank next to Old Shoreham road. You can also rig up on the west bank, just south of the foot bridge.
On spring high tides be careful of submerged river banks on the west bank.
IMPORTANT: This spot is a Site of ‘Special Scientific Interest’ (SSSI) and is located close to an RSPB nature reserve. You must avoid this spot at low – mid tides and keep off the mud. This is a sensitive spot for wildlife so care must be taken not to disturb the birds.
